Twitter, Facebook, Foursquare and now Google+. Is your organisation using any of these? What are the expectations or goals for using social media networks?
To some extend some companies are just on social media because it’s the thing to do these days.
While some that are not using this new phenomenon are so because they do not get what they can achieve with it.
Who is better off between users and non users? Companies that do use this media in subject, with no clue of what they are doing, are like those not on social networks, if not worse.
If you are a telephone service provider, the reality is that your users may not like you or some aspects about you. You are just the better choice from the competition. So them hearing of you, especially on social media, is a further irritation. Search your company name on twitter and read what people are saying about you!
This is how you use social media!
The start is to stop being a further nuisance or irritation at the mention of your brand. Let’s admit it, if you are a courier or cell phone provider, chances are you are not cooler than a clothing brand or beer brand.
Be part of the cool kids, talk like them and hang with them. Speak of what your consumers are interested in hearing and talking about. The obvious being that you cannot swear (depends) and be negative. Positivity will never hit back. Be the bearer of good news.
The effect! Structure your social media programme like this and you will start being a cool brand despite the probable deficiencies about your line of business. Good consistent service provision is not always probable in business. The amazing thing about social media is it can cover up such if used in the above manner. Everybody makes mistakes; you have to prove that you are more than the mistakes you make.
